Exhibitions

I am preparing to put up an exhibition in Church Square that showcases my work as a graduate from CCAD, I have been starting to think about what I could possibly put on the wall and how this would look.

I have had a few tutorials and talked to my lecturers about how I could display my work; it was mentioned to me that a good idea would be to display one print that would fill all of my designated space. I think that while costly this would be a good way to display as it meant that I could combine the 100 different objects I have photographed into one photograph and this would showcase my retouching skills the most.

Another option is to look at three different panoramas, as I would then be showing off my editing and creative eye for details.
At this time we have not been given any details for how much space we have been designated or if there is any plan on where people are being placed in the exhibition; I think that having this information early will greatly improve my design as I know what the options are for my work and how I could display.

I think that if I create the panoramas I would want two of them to be horizontal and one of them to be vertical, I think this would show my skills in designing and compositing and show that I am able to work to within a variety which is a necessary skill to have especially in editorial or advertising where a campaign would be seen across many different formats and sizes.

I already have some experience in putting on an exhibition because have previously done this with the college that I have been too. This exhibition was a success; and it gave me the knowledge and understanding of all the work that goes in behind the scenes of an exhibition that some working professional photographers do not have.

For this exhibition I had to help prepare the walls by clearing the remnants of the previous exhibition and then paint them fresh so it looked up too professional standard. During the college term this sparked many arguments between students because not all of them understood why the boards had to be repainted and refused to do so.
Me and the small group of people who were willing to paint and help behind the scenes were separated into another room so that we could prepare our room and get it up to the standard that we wanted without having to worry about the standard of the walls and the degree show in the other room which had been left to the student who did not seem to care.

I am worried that the Graduate show will be a repeat of this, as I know I will be one of the few students willing to help and paint the walls again. I do not know how to fix this problem and there is no way to predict or force students into helping.

I remember having some photographs taken of me at the exhibit but I am unable to find these photographs at this time, but I am going to keep looking.
