After seeing
the work I had done for the wedding I was contacted by a couple that were both
celebrating their 50th birthdays and had decided to have a joint
fancy dress themed celebration. I was told that there would be around 200
people turning up and was asked if I could photograph everybody throughout the
night from 7pm till 11pm; on the night however only around 70 people turned up
and not everybody was in fancy dress, I still photographed everybody that
turned up but a lot of the photographs show the same people over and over. I do
not think the couple were happy with the photographs but I do not think this
was because of the quality of the photographs but the people shown in them.
As
previously mentioned I had to be careful about presenting the colour popped
photographs because people would assume this was my style; this is a perfect
example of this as I was asked for this because of the previous work. I was
asked if I could produce some colour popped photographs of them in their
costumes, I did this for them however with their costumes not being bright and
colourful the effect was not as visible as in the wedding photographs. Because
of the lack of colour in the photograph I chose to keep it in colour for printing as it drew
attention to them and I also included a full black and white photograph on the
disc.
This is the original photograph I sent them. I have also sent them a version of their costumes in colour and everything else in black and white like I was asked for however this is not obvious that it is colour popped because of the lack of colour within their costumes.
